Falcon
tradition this year is entering into it’s 38th season of providing
entertainment to the community and 38 years of leadership in the OHA.
The Falcons are a non-profit Corporation run by a volunteer
Board of Directors. These Directors come from all walks of life and are
respected in the community. They serve Falcon Hockey from a variety of
professions, business and trades. With this cross-section of talent the
Falcon organization is able to muster support from every corner of the
community. Falcon Directors are only part of what has become one of the
most successful amateur hockey franchises in Ontario. Falcon Coaches,
Managers and support staff over the years have been selected to give the
club the best possible foundation to work from. Certification of trainers
is a must and continued upgrading of support staff is not only encouraged,
but also financially endorsed.
The selection of those players who wear Red and White
comes under the same critique. Continuing Education is strongly encouraged
and outlined to all Falcon Players. Falcon personnel also know that some
that are successful may not, at that moment, be ready to continue schooling.
The Falcon organization can then exercise its community contacts and place
the Falcon in a job that is usually part-time.
Falcon Management has education resources available
and is more than happy to outline programs available to the high school,
university or community college students. Over 700 players have worn the
Falcon colours in the last 37 years. Over 100 of those have been able
to further their education with offers from American and Canadian Universities.
The NCAA list include Cornell, Harvard, Yale Union, Colgate, Ferris State,
Western Michigan, Hamilton, Bowling Green, Miami of Ohio, Ohio State,
Alabama, Alaska, Canisius, Niagara University, Buffalo State and many
others. The Falcons are very fortunate to have on staff education liaisons
who have a wealth of knowledge and ability to assist the players in their
progress.
14 Golden Horseshoe League titles in 37 years! Six OHA
finals, OHL and NHL drafts give Falcon players numerous avenues of exposure
and a wealth of positive experiences on which to build a future.
Our Title sponsor, Mountainview Homes and almost 200
other business supporters work along with our club in supporting our community
events that to this day are still an integral part of our operations.
