Falcons dominate Canucks
Game #3 on Saturday at Niagara Falls

After winning Game #1 of their best-of-seven semifinal
series against the Niagara Falls Canucks Wednesday night, the Falcons
were looking to go up two games to none Friday night in front of their
home fans.

The Mountainview Homes Falcons found the back of the
net first Friday night inside Jack Gatecliff Arena. Chris Stevenson opened
the scoring in the first period for the Falcons, scoring an unassisted
power-play goal 5:26 into the game.

The Canucks were held scoreless in the first period as
the Falcons skated into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead. St. Catharines
also owned the lead in shots on net at 10-4.

The second period opened with a separate penalty called
on each team, and as the clubs played four-on-four hockey, the Canucks
finally solved Falcons netminder Steele De Fazio to tie the game 1-1.
At just 1:01 into the period, Mike Kusy scored for the Canucks, while
Shawn Connors and Kyle Jukosky added an assist.

Stephen Ceccanese scored his first short-handed goal
of the post-season in the second when he beat Canucks goaltender Ryan
Ludzik on a two-on-one. Riley Sheahan skated down the ice with the puck
and passed it over at the last second to Ceccanese, who put it past a
sprawling Ludzik. Defenseman Kevin Floris also recorded an assist on the
goal to make the score 2-1 for St. Catharines.

Falcons forward Daultan Leveille went upstairs on Ryan
Ludzik with a great short-handedgoal to give St. Catharines a 3-1 lead
at the 14:12 minute mark of the second. The insurance goal for the Falcons
was assisted by Ceccanese and Andre Abayof. The Falcons held on to the
3-1 lead going into the second intermission, though the Canucks came back
with more shots on net at 13-9 for the period.

The Falcons jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third period
with a power-play goal from Chris Stevenson, his second of the night.
Kevin Floris and Daultan Leveille grabbed helpers on the play.

St. Catharines sealed the game wih 5:26 left to play
in the third when Dan Ziraldo netted his first goal of the playoffs. Ziraldo's
goal was assisted by Vladimir Bessonov and Ryan Elbers.

The Canucks scored a late goal to make the score 5-2,
but the Falcons added an empty-netter to make the final score 6-2. The
win gives the Falcons a (2-0) series lead in the best-of-seven semifinal
seies.

Attendance inside Jack Gatecliff Arena Friday night was
announced at 1,307 fans.
Game #3 is inside Niagara Falls Memorial Arena Saturday
night. Game time is 7:30pm. Game #4 is back inside Jack Gatecliff Arena
Tuesday, March 18th. The puck will drop at 7:30pm sharp!
