Elbers helps Falcons in big
win

After a 2-1 loss the night before, the St. Catharines
Mountainview Falcons retaliated with a 6-2 blowout against the Thorold
Blackhawks Saturday night from Thorold's Community Arena.

Brad Jackson scored his fourth goal of the playoffs with
a first period marker just 5:03 into the game. Jackson's teammates Daultan
Leveille and Chris Stevenson assisted on the goal.
Leveille then gave St. Catharines a 2-0 lead with a goal
of his own at 11:26 minute mark of the same period. Ryan Elbers and Chris
Garbacz recorded assists on the early insurance goal. The period ended
with the Falcons holding on to the two goal lead, but were outshot by
the Blackhawks 11-5.

Riley Sheahan gave the Mountainview Falcons a three goal
lead early in the second period, which subsequently ended goaltender Rick
Scarsella's night as he was replaced with backup Marcus Menard. The third
goal of the night was assisted by Mike Stone at the 3:32 mark.
Former Falcon Jason Aucoin scored the first of two goals
Saturday night, the first coming at the 7:47 mark of the second period.
The Blackhawks goal cut the Falcons lead to 3-1, until Ryan Elbers added
a goal with less than 4 minutes to play in the second to make the score
4-1 after 40 minutes of play.

The third period was just as frustrating for the Blackhawks
as they fell behind 5-1 with Brad Jackson's second goal of the night.
Kevin Floris and Leveille assisted on Jackson's 5th goal of the postseason.
Aucoin's second goal came late in the game after the
Falcons had already jumped out to a 6-1 lead with Elber's second goal
of the night. Aucoin's third period marker came on the power-play.
Steele De Fazio recorded the win for the Falcons, turning
away 27 of Thorold's 29 shots. Menard and Scarsella shared netminding
duties Saturday night, stopping a combined 17 out of 23 shots.

Attendance Saturday evening from Thorold was published
on Pointstreak at 1,219. The win gives St. Catharines a 2-1 series lead
in the championship round against the Blackhawks.
Game #4 of the best-of-seven series hits the ice Monday,
March 31st, with a 7;30pm start time. Get your advance tickets at the
