Thorold wins on home ice
Game #6 from St. Catharines on Friday

The Mountainview Falcons came from behind to tie Game #5 in the third period Wednesday night, but couldn't grab the lead and eventually fell to the Thorold Blackhawks 4-2 in front of 2,237 fans inside Thorold's Community Arena. The win gives Thorold the series lead for the first time during the best-of-seven championship series.

Shane Davidson and Jim Durham both scored for Thorold in the first period to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission. The Falcons finally outshot the Blackhawks for a change, taking 12 versus Thorold's 11 in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Falcons were the only ones to score in the second period, cutting Thorold's lead in half with a goal from defenseman Mike Stone with less than a minue to play in the period. Brad Jackson and Ryan Elbers assisted on the goal. Thorold outshot St. Catharines in the second period 15-8, for a two-period total of 26-20 in favour of Thorold.

St. Catharines scored the tying goal in the third period at the 12:37 minute mark when Brad Jackson beat Thorold's netminder Rick Scarsella. Unfortunately, Thorold scored less than 2 minutes later to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead and the eventual game winner. Thorold netted an empty-net goal to make the final score 4-2.
