The Blackhawks blanked the Falcons in the second period,
and grabbed two goals to jump out to a 3-1 lead to the disappointment
of all the Falcons fans in attendance.
Thorold's second goal was an even-strength goal with
less than two minutes to play in the period. Jim Durham scored to give
Thorold the lead, with an assist to CJ Dickson.
With seven seconds left in the second period, Thorold
forward Mario Cote was awarded a penalty shot for being taken down by
Falcons defenseman Kevin Floris during a rush towards Steele De Fazio
in net for St. Catharines. Cote converted on the penalty shot, giving
Thorold a 3-1 commanding lead at the end of 40 minutes of play.

St. Catharines came within one goal in the third period
at the 12:08 minute mark when Daultan Leveille scored his second goal
of the game, also a power-play goal, to make the score 3-2 for the Blackhawks.
Sheahan assisted on the second goal as well.
But the Falcons couldn't come up with a third and tying
goal, and the Blackhawks landed an empty-net goal to secure their victory
and the Golden Horseshoe division championship.

Attendance was published on Pointstreak's website at
2,300 fans, but Thorold's Community Arena was sold out and packed with
fans sitting in the aisles and standing two deep along the glass.
