The first period ended tied 2-2 but it was the WOHL who outshot the GHL 13-11. Steele De Fazio of St. Catharines played in net during the second period for the GHL, while Jon Hunter of Tecumseh remained in net until about the half way mark of the second period for the WOHL. Brian Hince of St. Marys came in after Hunter for the WOHL for the remainder of the game, due to an injury to the WOHL's third all-star netminder Paul Gibson of St. Thomas.

The WOHL owned the shots on net during the second period as well, grabbing 14 compared to the GHL's 7. A two period total gave the WOHL a 27-18 lead in shots on net.

Just before the WOHL's 6th goal of the game, WOHL goaltender Brian Hince was injured on a save and left the game at the 11:07 mark of the third period. Tecumseh goaltender Jon Hunter replaced Hince for the remaining 8:53 left in the period. The WOHL controlled most of the third period, grabbing 41 shots over the GHL's 31 after 60 minutes of play.
