Falls hand Falcons first loss

14-Sep-2007 · 9:30pm

The last time the Niagara Falls Canucks visited the Jack Gatecliff Arena in St. Catharines, they left the city down three games to one in their Golden Horseshoe League Final Round Series against the St. Catharines Mountainview Homes Falcons.

The Falcons dropped the Canucks in the following match to take the GHL Championship in five games, and the Canucks had all summer to heal their wounds and prepare for a rematch in the 2007-08 season.

The Canucks grabbed another insurance goal early in the third period when Mike Kusy scored 1:55 into the period. Brendan Roffey added a helper on the play for Niagara Falls to make the score 3-1.

Niagara Falls ended De Fazio's evening when he was pulled on their fourth goal. Canucks defenseman Devon Thomson scored at 5:09 of the third period to make the score 4-1 in favour of the Canucks. Mike Kusy assisted on the goal.

Even with Yvon Boulet in net for the Falcons for the remainder of the period, St. Catharines couldn't bounce back against the Falls and loss the game 4-1 at the end of 60 minutes of play.
