Thorold dumps Falcons again

The last time the Thorold Blackhawks were inside the
Jack Gatecliff Arena this season they dropped the Falcons 4-2. St. Catharines
was hungry for some revenge when Thorold stopped in Friday night for a
rematch.

Thorold struck first, however, grabbing a 1-0 lead in
the first. The period looked all but over when, with 2.2 seconds left,
former Falcons forward Jason Aucoin scored a quick shot past Falcons goaltender
Steele De Fazio. Assisting were Johnson Andrews and Blackhawks captain
Kevin Ward.

The Falcons tied the game in the second period with a
power-play goal from forward JT MacDonald. Netminder Marcus Menard couldn't
grab the reobound on the tying goal, that came at 3:15 with helpers from
Kevin Floris and Mike Stone.

The Blackhawks answered back with two more goals by just
pass the half way mark of the second period. Their second goal came from
Kevin Simson, while the insurance goal was netted by Austin Blujus. Assists
went to Ryan Bellows, Dan Williams and Zach Graham.

Thorold jumped out to a 4-1 lead with a power-play goal
from CJ Dickson at the 15:45 minute mark of the second period. Mike Bentivegna
and Ward added assists for the Blackhawks. The period ended with Thorold
owning a 4-1 lead over St. Cathaines, but the Falcons led in shots on
net 27-21.

The Blackhawks jumped out to a 5-1 lead at the beginning
of the third period, but with Yvon Boulet in net for the Falcons at the
start of the 3rd, St. Catharines came back to life with 2 third period
goals. New Falcon Brad Jackson and Daultan Leveille cut the Blackhawks
lead to 2 with under 4 minutes to play.

The Falcons couldn't grab two more goals to tie the game,
and the Thorold Blackhawks won for the second time this season at the
Jack Gatecliff Arena. Attendance at St. Catharines was 778.
