Meteors blow apart Falcons
20-Jan-2008 · 12:00pm
Where have the Falcons that were fighting for first
place gone? They apparently weren't in Fort Erie Saturday night when the
Fort Erie Meteors demolished the St. Catharines Mountainview Homes Falcons
7-0 before a crowd of 437.

After jumping out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the second
period with goals from Meteors Kyle Steckley, Cory Giroux, Ian Fairgrieve
and Dan Krug, the St. Catharines Falcons decided to play a rough third
period and drop the gloves in an effort to regain some self esteem back.

The fighting majors in the third period didn't extinguish
Fort Erie's attack as they added three more goals, from Krug, George Dunn
and Todd Krupa, to send the embarrassed Falcons packing ack to St. Catharines
with their worst loss of the season.
Falcons newly acquired backstop Adrian Volpe from the
Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League stepped onto the ice for
the first time in a Falcons jersey Saturday night when he replaced goaltender
Steele De Fazio to start the third period. Volpe allowed three goals on
15 shots, while De Fazio allowed four on 27.

The Falcons will hopefully reorganize this week and will
try to rebound Thursday night in Thorold when St. Catharines takes on
the Blackhawks inside Thorold arena at 7:30pm.
