The Falcons dominated the first period and didn't look back, scoring three unanswered goals in the first 20 minutes of play alone. Back in a Falcons jersey for the first time since breaking his leg last season, Scott Madden (PP) scored the Falcons first goal of the season, setting the pace for the evening.

Newcomer Pat Fergus and Miles Torch scored the other two goals in the first to make the score 3-0 going into the first intermission. Goaltender Jeff Sinclair turned away all 7 of Wheatfield's shots in the first.

The third period was a little quieter on the scoreboard with the referees slowing the pace with penalties. The Falcons added two more goals to make the final score 7-1 in favour of the home team. With the win, St. Catharines joins Thorold, Niagara Falls and Stoney Creek amongst the eight teams of the Golden Horseshoe Conference to win their first game of the season.

Though many fans in attendance where wearing shorts inside Jack Gatecliff Arena Friday night due to the nice weather outside, the announced attendance was 402 fans.
