Though the Falcons had countless man-advantages in the second period, they couldn't put one past the Jr. Blades goaltender Daniel Ramirez. Wheatfield extended their lead with an insurance goal from Chris Williams at the 12:41 minute mark, on the power-play.

The Falcons finally hit the back of the net with a goal less than 2 minutes later at 14:24 of the second period. Riley Jakobschuk was credited with his 6th goal of the season, with assists to Matt Lorito and Chris Langdon.

The score remained 2-1 for Wheatfield at the end of 40 minutes of play, though the Falcons dominated the shots on net 20-7 over the Jr. Blades for a two-period total of 28-14 in favour of St. Catharines.

St. Catharines had no choice but to forecheck in the third period in an attempt to tie or win the game against the defensive Jr. Blades. Their efforts finally paid off with Riley Jakobschuk's tying goal at 7:11 of the third, his second goal of the night. Falcons forward Chris Garbacz grabbed the lone assist on the play.

Overtime was needed to resolve this match, and on a two-on-one the Wheatfield Jr. Blades scored on a rebound to win the game with 22 seconds remaining in the extra period of play. The win was the Jr. Blade's first ever inside Jack Gatecliff Arena. Josh Schmitt stole the overtime winner for Wheatfield.
