Kitchener jumped out to a 2-1 lead less than 5 minutes later when Joel Hoekstra hit the back of the Falcons net at the 10:51 mark of the same period.

Brandon McGregor tied the game for St. Catharines with less than 5 minutes to play in the second period with a beautiful steal from a Kitchener defenseman that resulted in a short-handed, unassisted goal at the 15:23 minute mark.

Still in the second period, Kitchener grabbed a power-play goal to jump up 3-2 over St. Catharines just 23 seconds after McGregor's goal. Once again, the Falcons tied the game3-3, with their own power-play goal, from forward Matt Lorito with 3 minutes and 10 seconds left to play in the period.

The Dutchmen added one more goal before the end of the second period to make the score 4-3 for the second intermission. Kitchener also outshot the Falcons 15-11, grabbing a two-period total of 20-18.

The Falcons opened the third period with their fourth goal of the game to tie the score 4-4 at just 1:23 into the period. Miles Torch scored his 11th of the season, on the power-play.

St. Catharines took the lead again 7:59 into the third period with Riley Jakobschuk's 11th goal of the season. Jakobschuk fought past Kitchener's defense and beat their goalie to give the Falcons a 5-4 lead.
